Mission
Statement
The mission of OO-CORD is to develop research and knowledge exchange
on sustainable, organic agricultural systems to address the duel
needs of food security and income generation for the public good
in Nigeria, West Africa and Africa as a whole. OO-CORD shall work
through a collaboration of its target end-users: farmers, with scientists
and other stakeholders.
OO-CORD
shall be actively involved in farming practices and systems that
rely on biological processes which are renewable, non-polluting,
and mutually beneficial to both farmers and society. They shall
adhere to the four overarching principles of organic agriculture,
those are: the principles of health, ecology, fairness and care.
OOCORD
has three Boards namely, Patrons, Governing Board and Directors.
Whereas the Patrons are the Advisory Body of the Centre, the Governing
and Advisory Council, GAC, formulates policies and strategic direction
of the Centre, GAC, is the main Governing Board of OOCORD. The Board
of Directors runs the day-to-day activities of the Centre and carries
out policies and approved projects of the Centre.
